Office
Resources, Inc. is a privately owned Kentucky Corporation, which was
formed in July 1993 by the merger of O'Connor & Raque (established in
1945) and Bosco/Intecon (established in 1966).
O'Connor
& Raque began as a small retail office supply store at 416 West Jefferson
Street. For the next 20 years the founders grew the business by adding
office furniture to the company's product offering and adding commercial
sales people to make direct calls on the customers.

Founded
in 1966, Business Office Supply Company, Inc. originally operated as
a general line office supply and furniture dealership, which became
familiar by the name "BOSCO". The dealership began representing Steelcase
in 1967. Because of the fast-paced growth of the large corporations,
the growing complexity of the products they were selling, and the importance
of trained specialists to serve customers, the company divided into
two divisions in 1978: INTECON (offering contract furniture and total
office environment services) and BOSCO (a commercial stationer).
In
1995 ORI sold the office supplies division to Boise Cascade Office Products,
allowing ORI to concentrate on furniture and services for the work environment.
Currently,
ORI has further evolved into four specialties or value
propositions. Each value proposition provides unique solutions for
specific customers. The four specialties are ORI
Contract, ORI Integrated Interiors, Office
Furniture USA & the ORI Office Furniture Clearance
Center.
About
our building
Today
ORI is located in the historic Broadway Theater Building at 816 East
Broadway in Louisville. The building was designed by the local architectural
firm of Joseph & Joseph and constructed in 1914-1915. The building opened
in May of 1915 with a seating capacity of 800 and was reported to have
acoustics as perfect as any building of its kind.
Live
performances were featured from its very beginning and featured stars
such as John Barrymore. From 1930 until 1959 the Broadway Theater building
operated as a popular movie house.
In
1960 the Catholic Theater Guild purchased the building for $25,000.
The Guild used the building for amateur productions and had a vision
to restore the ornate auditorium and stage to its original grandeur.
But it was not to happen and the Guild held it's last performance on
February 14, 1970.
Shortly
thereafter, the old building became the Mad Hatter's Nightclub and featured
several prominent rock and roll bands of the seventies-Pink Floyd, Black
Sabbath and Santana among them. Later in the 1970's Charles Beckham
ran for congress and used the theater as his campaign offices.
By
the early 1980's the building had been unoccupied for several years
and was in poor condition. On January 1, 1985 ORI (then known as Business
Office Supply Company) purchased the Broadway Theater. Later that year
the building became the office supply and budget furniture division
of the company.
In
1995 after the supply division was sold, the ORI Contract division moved
into the building. Being in business to provide the most advanced working
environments to our customers, it was apparent the building needed a
facelift. After a transformation that took nearly a year, the new ORI
showroom was finished in December of 2000. A gala open house was held
and several hundred people attended "The Broadway Premier of Cool Spaces,
An ORI Production."
Today
the building is on the National Register of Historic Places and serves
as a dramatic backdrop for promoting our new value propositions while
showing a broad range of work settings. We recently installed the Steelcase
Feature Stage, which is updated quarterly with the latest Steelcase
architecture, furniture and technology products.
Whether
you are looking for interior solutions or just want to stop by to see
the building you are welcome to come in for a visit!
